Powers Catholic High School has planned a series of activities, meetings, and events throughout the school year to introduce eighth grade or transfer students and their parents to Powers.

Parent Student Visitation Days

Parents are welcome to stop in and visit anytime. We would encourage you to call the school at 810-591-4741 to make an appointment with Mrs. Dockery. She will meet with you to answer any questions or discuss any concerns. Then, a student will be selected to give you a tour of the school.

Explore Test - December 15, 2007 -  9:00 - 11:45 a.m.

The Explore Test, which is a product of and an introduction to the American College Testing (ACT) program, is a useful tool for measuring student progress through high school. Powers also uses Explore test results as one criteria for placing students in the correct classes in high school. All entering ninth graders must take Explore tests before they register for classes. If your student is not available for testing on December 15th  please call 591-4741 for a later testing date.

Registration - March-June, 2008

Powers counselors will go to the Catholic elementary schools and to St. Paul Lutheran, Flint, to register students during the month of February. Parents are encouraged to make appointments through the elementary school to participate in the registration process. The counselors will also be available on several evenings in March, April, and May to register students from other schools or students who missed the registration day at their parochial school. Please call the high school office to make an evening appointment. The counselors will use the student's previous grades and test scores, as well as Explore scores, to select the best academic program for each student. Although we will continue to register students throughout the summer, those students who register before June will have the best opportunity to be selected for special academic programs which we offer. All School Mass - Tuesday, September 18, 2007  10:30AM

Area priests celebrate Mass with the entire school community in the Powers gym on four different occasions throughout the year. We strongly encourage any parent who wishes to see the essential difference between Powers and public schools to attend an All School Mass.
