We are pleased to share some exciting news about a fundraising program at Powers that offers you Tuition Credits. The program is called “SCRIP”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop. SCRIP is simply a word that means “Substitute Money” – in other words, SCRIP is gift certificates from national and local retailers. These gift certificates are the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including Krogers, VG’s, JC Penney, The Gap, Speedway, Kohls, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster and many, many others. You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money. It’s simple -- SCRIP participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount. Member families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our school keeps the difference as revenue, half of this revenue is returned to the participating families for tuition credits. The beauty of SCRIP is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You can earn tuition credits without spending any additional money. Just purchase SCRIP Certificates and spend them as you would regular shopping dollars at the stores that participate in the SCRIP program! SCRIP Certificates can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out. Please remember SCRIP is not limited to only Powers families. Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles & Friends can purchase SCRIP Certificates on behalf of a Powers family and any tuition credits earned will be credited to that Powers family. Families can also begin participating in SCRIP prior to a child being a student at Powers and those Tuition Credits will be banked until the child becomes a student at Powers.
