POWERS CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION

Excellence in Student Body
Since moving from the original location on Carpenter Road in 2013, enrollment has increased by almost 20 percent (650 total students) representing 72 different schools in Genesee, Oakland, Saginaw, Shiawassee, Livingston, and Lapeer counties. While Catholicism is not a requirement for students to attend Powers, the student body is comprised of 80 percent Catholic, 20 percent non-Catholic. 38 different Catholic parishes are represented at the school.

Excellence in Education
High academic standards set Powers apart from the surrounding school districts in Genesee County. Powers offers a renowned team-taught Honors Humanities program, challenging the best students and building their skills for life beyond high school. The school also offers outstanding courses in fine arts, foreign language, and theology. For the past three decades, Powers students rank significantly higher than state and national averages with ACT test scores. For the past 30 years, Powers has had more National Merit semi-finalists than any school in Genesee County. Beginning in 2013, DEEP (Dual Enrollment Educational Partnership) was offered for the first time to junior and seniors providing the opportunity to earn up to 16 college credits from Kettering University and 24 from the University of Michigan-Flint without leaving the Powers Catholic campus. Since this program began, Powers Catholic students have earned over 8000 college credits with individual students earning anywhere from 6 to 80 credits. Powers Catholic students have graduated and gone on to attend outstanding colleges and universities including Carnegie Mellon, Dartmouth, Dayton, DePaul, Duke, Harvard, John Carroll, Johns Hopkins, Loyola, MIT, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn, Princeton, Stanford, the University of Chicago, the University of Michigan, and Yale. In the last five years, Powers Catholic Graduates have accumulated $37.5 million in academic and athletic scholarships.
