Christian Service Requirements
Students are required to complete 50 hours of Christian Service to be eligible for graduation. The first 30 hours of service must be completed by the end of their junior year. The last 20 hours will be completed in their senior year within the Capstone Project that is part of the 12th grade Theology class and a graduation requirement.

Additional Considerations
- The school year begins the day after the last day of exams and ends on the last day of exams. All summer service counts for the upcoming school year.
- Service Hours must be recorded within the semester that they are completed through the MobileServe App. If a service hour is recorded after the semester, it will not be counted. When recording the service hour, the date that the hour was completed must be included. This means when you enter the date on Mobile Serve it must be the date you served. If you served three different days then you must have three different entries. There is some grace given to service hours completed right at the end of a semester.
- Service hours must be human-focused. For example, the Humane Society is a great organization, but it falls outside the scope of the Christian Service Requirements. Community service hours must be completed in the community. For example, a student cannot bring in items to school and count it as service.
- Community Service hours are limited to a list of approved organizations. If a student would like to use an organization outside of this list, they must be pre-approved by the service coordinator.
- Charger Outreach days organized by Powers Catholic are a part of the Capstone Project Service Learning Intiative and are not counted for service hours.
- Service hours must be verified by the direct adult supervisor. The student must use the supervisor's professional email.
- Service hours completed past the limit in a certain category can still be counted for house points, but will not fulfill the Christian service requirement for graduation.
- All Service hours should take place outside of school hours. Activities for which fundraising is a part, like working the concession stand or selling goods at a bake sale that benefits your team or club, do not count. Service hours cannot be counted for both your graduation requirement and Capstone or other service requirements like scouting, NHS, or Rotary.
- Students cannot under any circumstance be the supervisor of an event. Additionally, students should not use a parent as a supervisor unless that parent is the designated supervisor for all students at the event with an email address from the organization.
- Graduation requirement is 5 hours per semester through the end of junior year for a total of 30 hours. The Senior Capstone Project is an additional 20 hours. Transfer students’ hours start upon enrollment; they do not need to complete additional hours for years not in attendance.

Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (7234 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc) offers free food on the third Saturday of the month from May through October to those in need. In order to do this, we need approximately 40 volunteers to help with the distribution each month. We ask volunteers to come at 8:00am and park at the Sikh Temple parking lot directly south of the church. The distribution begins at 9:00am and goes until the food runs out (usually around 11:00am with a lunch for volunteers following). Volunteers do not have to stay for the entire distribution, and will be instructed about what to do when they arrive. If you have any questions, please contact the church office at 810-424-6707 or [email protected].
